",We thank our many members who contributed their talents, food, creative ideas, and time to host a special Maundy Thursday service. We enacted the last evening of the life of Jesus as if we were there, but also here - what would it be like if your everyday friends were disciples? What would it be like today to be told to go to the sign of a fish by a man with a water jug? What would it be like if your leader asked you if you wanted your feet washed? What would it be like...if your master was taken away by a confused follower? We enacted Jesus' last meal in our fellowship hall, and then brought the disciples to "the customary place" - our sanctuary, where we watched an enactment of Jesus' last moments in the garden of Gethsemane.
Our special thank to the members of First United Methodist Church Wallingford who brought a beautiful choral piece to our transition from our enactment to a short concluding message and time of worship, and to the members of our church who decorated our fellowship hall and put out a wonderful Middle Eastern spread of treats for our Last Supper enactment. Our cast, in order of appearance:
Man with the Water Jug/Temple Guard - Bob Moore
Man at the Upper Room Door/Temple Guard - John King
Mary - Carolee "Corky Collins,
Peter - Jeanne King
John - Jane Namnoun
Judas - Debbie Moore
Disciple/Lector - Sally Dow
Jesus - Pastor John Blossom

In our United Methodist Church traditions, ALL Christian believers are called by God to be ministers of God in Christ, through God's Holy Spirit. Our Connecticut District of the UMC New York Annual Conference supports your training in ministries actively! These training programs are a great way to grow in ministry through your spiritual gifts, which you can bring into the church and God's world.
There are THREE great programs being offered this April (printable flyers below):
BASIC LAY SERVANT COURSE - April 14th and 28th, at Plainville UMC - Learn the basics of what it means to be in ministry as a lay (non-clergy) member of the United Methodist church. You will gain insights into how God works through us in ministries, basic biblical and theological knowledge, and a sense of how we work together in Christ through ministry leadership.
PREACHING COURSE - April 7 and 21 at Southington UMC - Get very practical and encouraging guidance on how to prepare and deliver a sermon that reflects the message of God living in you through Christ in the United Methodist tradition.
ACTIVE AGGRESSOR TRAINING PROGRAM - Sunday, April 8th, 5.30-8PM, New Life United Methodist Church - A Connecticut State Police training program developed specifically for houses of worship. Learn how to respond to active aggressors in a worship and church service environment.

What would it be like to wake up to a heart that was not your own giving you life every day? Pastor John Blossom's sermon "Awaken" this Sunday asked this question, and told us how amazing it is when a life of practicing faith leads to God awakening in our hearts like never before. You'll find the sermon podcast with audio and slides below, and text for the sermon here and below the podcast.
Our special thanks go out this week to everyone who put together our Corned Beef Dinner Saturday night, and to Jesse Desjardins, our new audio/visual leader for worship. Bless you all for your service to God!
