We invited our sisters and brothers of faith from our local mosques and synagogue to join us in a time of reflection and prayer to honor the innocents slain as they worshiped in the mosques of Christchurch, New Zealand - the latest in a string of global assaults on people of faith worshiping peacefully. An attack on any people of faith is an attack on all people of faith, and we stand in solidarity with all people of faith with love in our hearts for all who seek the peace and blessings of a loving LORD. A podcast recording of our service with interfaith prayers and scripture readings are below. Please continue in times of prayer and reflection to help the world to surrender to the living shield of faith, not to the hard and lifeless shield of warring hearts.
We invite you to come this Sunday at 10AM to celebrate a God who loves us, a God who protects us, a God who invites us to gather in new generations to God's protection in Jesus Christ. It is love that is meant to save us all, for all time! Rejoice in joyful worship, stay for warm fellowship, and please join us for a moment of prayer at noon, in unity with all people on God's earth, in the wake of the tragic shooting of 49 worshipers at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand. Be blessed, and rejoice in our God's loving protection!
At our church, we take our faith seriously, and the love of a saving God seriously. We offer it to everyone in our community. And so, at the time of this tragic murder of 49 worshipers at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, we invite all people, and all faith leaders, to a short but important time of prayer and reflection this Sunday, March 19th, in our church sanctuary. There will be no sermons, only prayers, some visual and sound reflections, and some words of scripture that can offer us unity, healing, and hope at this time. May we all pray for the healing of the world that God have given to us in love, and for the healing of all hearts and bodies and souls who have been wounded so deeply by this tragedy.
Training for Easter Sunlight! March 10th Worship Podcast and Sermon Text for South Meriden Trinity UMC
No matter who we are, and how we come to God's church, Jesus has set the example of enduring journeys of faith with us, and for us. Celebrate enduring faith this Sunday at 10AM with joyful worship, and warm fellowship afterwards, as Pastor John invites us into our season of Lent with words of assurance and hope to lead us forward. See you then!
Our church distributed ashes to the Christian faithful across Meriden, and at our 7PM Ash Wednesday service. We touched young and old across from Hanover Elementary School on a bitterly cold morning, then on West Main Street in front of Meriden's police station, then at Tom's Place on Main Street, and all afternoon in our sanctuary. We touched many new friends in Christ, and we pray for them all to be touched by the living God in this season of Lent. Our 7PM service included a moving message by Pastor John, and beautiful music from Laurie Brandl, our Music Director. Service podcast with sermon and prayer below, and sermon text here and below the podcast. Have a blessed journey in Lent towards Easter sunlight!
Would you like to reaffirm your connection to the God who created you from dust, the God who died for the world, the God who rose from the dead, for our sake, and the sake of the world? Say, "It's me, God! Remember me?" in our season of Lent, the forty days and Sundays between Ash Wednesday (March 6th) and Easter Sunday (April 21ast).
Come in any time during the week that our "OPEN FOR PRAYER" sign is out, and get in touch with our God in prayer and reflection. Come to our faith groups, Wednesday nights at 5PM and 7PM, and make new connections with others who are on this journey of hope. Experience Good Friday in worship on Friday, April 19th, a 7PM, and reflect on the power of Jesus' gift of the cross, which leads us through what we fear most to gain what we can love most.
And then, on Easter Sunday, rejoice! Jesus rose from the dead, to offer us new life, now and forever. Our celebration begins at 9.45 on our front lawn with an Easter Bunny egg hunt for children, and is followed with a beautiful worship service, with joyful music, and a powerful message of hope. Journey towards the day that changed all days, forever - and follow the way of Jesus in your heart!
