Have things that you'd like to sell? Know someone who does? On Saturday, May 19th, our Community Tag Sale and Vendor Craft Fair will offer everyone in our community a chance to buy and sell things that will benefit our local and global missions to help people in need. We're invested in you and our community, and we want to help everyone to be a part of God's story!
From 9AM-3PM, the space along the sidewalk of South Meriden Trinity UMC's church and education buildings at 145 Main Street in Meriden will be filled with tables offering things for sale by local residents, special crafts made by local artisans, baked goods, and more! It's all for a great cause, and with a number of nearby events offering lots of people passing through South Meriden, it will be a great time to get your stuff some attention!
Visitors get to visit for free, and space for tables is available for $30 per table, with and extra $5 charge if you would like to rent a table and two chairs from the church. ANYONE can rent a table to sell their stuff - even you! For more information, please contact our office, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Do you think that everyday small steps taken in faith don't matter? Think again! While Pastor John Blossom is away this Sunday at a Connecticut District clergy event, our own Jeanne King will be sharing a message on "The Ripple Effect," show how some small changes in her life grew and grew into big changes. We will also hear from our United Methodist Women as they provide a moment to recognize excellence in service to our congregation and God's world. Come for joyful worship, warm community, and leave to serve God with the hope of faith in your heart!
This coming Saturday, May 5th, the Neighborhood Associations, & Block Watches of Meriden is organizing a series of city-wide cleanup teams to get our community ready for a new season of outdoor activities. In our own part of Meriden, we have an opportunity to help clean up Habershon Park's fields, to get them ready to serve the people who live in our mission field. Please contact Pastor John at 203.293.8511, email@example.com, if you are interested in participating in this event. Safety orientation starts at 8.30AM that morning. Hope that you can help - or get people involved who can!
Wow! What a wonder-filled turnout for our "Holy Conferencing" day of worship and church business, with long-time members, newcomers, and LOTS of kids enjoying following in the footsteps of our buddy-shepherd Jesus - to be in Jesus' flock, and to become shepherd-buddies ourselves!
We started in our beautiful church sanctuary, and after the passing of the peace, worship continued in the fellowship hall after some refreshments, Our children practiced being a shepherd (thanks for being the sheep, Hollis Hartford!), we all made shepherd pins that we we can wear in our community, we celebrated the life of the church with people putting sticky notes on the wall to highlight key events, stewardship, and discipleship initiatives, we prayed and listened to Pastor John Blossom's message "The Buddy System," and we conducted official church business with a brief Church Council meeting before concluding with a prayer, a joyful hymn, and a benediction. Thanks to EVERYONE who helped to make this a powerful day of faith!
Our podcast below includes key announcements and Pastor Johns sermon, and the church council meeting. Sorry for the use of an old slide for this podcast! Sermon text is here and below the podcast, and below that is a printable guide to being in the flock of Jesus being a shepherd like Jesus in our church, our homes, and in the world, which was included in our bulletin. Thank you, flock! Thank you, shepherds! Have a blessed week!
Dreary, cold days are giving way to bright and warm sunlight, a reminder that God wants us not to be alone in the darkness, but in the light of God's world, together! Jesus is here to lead us forward in faith, and to teach us how to build flocks like he does. Our worship this Sunday, April 22nd, starts at 10AM in our beautiful church sanctuary, and then moves into our fellowship hall for "holy conferencing," when we'll celebrate the life of the church in a "hands on" experience that combines worship, learning, a message from Pastor John Blossom, and important decisions. Jesus calls us to come together - respond to God's call in Jesus, and bring God's joy into the world!
Our church actively helps people in our community, and in other nations, to feel the transforming love of God in Christ touching their lives. Out May 12th event to help fund these missions brings you together with an awesome $7 breakfast spread, with lots of custom pancakes, eggs, breakfast meats, juices, and more. 8AM to 11AM in our fellowship hall,
Tickets available during our after-worship fellowship time, or at the door (advance purchase helps us to plan our quantities to serve everyone). Come for the fellowship and good food, and know that God's mission is being served as we serve you!
Wouldn't it be nice if our own families were like God's family? Through faith in Jesus Christ, God invites us to make this not just an idea, but the way we live! This Sunday's worship celebrated how God calls us all to be children of God, and how faith can help us to overcome the limits of our less-than-perfect families to bring God's family love into our lives. Worship podcast is below, text of Pastor John Blossom's sermon "It's Personal" is here and below the podcast, followed by the text of our special prayer for Christian families. Practice what we preach this week - make the whole world your family in Christ!
Is a God who comes to us as a parent, a sibling, or a friend a God who we know? Christian faith offers us to change to say, "Yes!" with the confidence of children of God - no matter what our families were like, or are like. Come to experience this living, loving God with us as we rejoice in joyful worship, and listen to Pastor John Blossom's sermon, "It's Personal." Come for the joy, leave with God's power in your heart!
We kept our Easter celebration alive today, as we came to breathe in God's Holy Spirit, like Jesus' followers did after his resurrection. In his children's message, Pastor John Blossom was blowing up and releasing balloons, reminding us of how God breathes the Holy Spirit into us, and then sends us new places to spread it, while his sermon "To Believe" focused on how people in our own community need the hope that God's Spirit offers us and them in abundance through our faith. Worship podcast is below, sermon text is here and in below the podcast. Spread fearless faith this week, and join us in our faith groups Sunday at 5PM and Wednesday at 7PM to build lasting faith friendships!
