In Mark's gospel, the power of Jesus makes people - even his own family! - wonder who Jesus is calling into the family of God. It turns out that Jesus' answer was simple and amazing: everyone! Come hear lay speaker Paul Pilecki's message "What is a Family" this Sunday, June 10th, at 10AM, as we practice being the family of God as a church family. and stay for warm and welcoming fellowship!
For more than thirty years, Debbie and Bob Moore have been steadfast in their devotion and service to our church, helping us in more ways than we can count more times that we can count. As they prepare to move to their retirement home in New York state, we honored them at our Sunday worship service in a special ceremony, and offered them gifts, thanks, and joyful celebration in our fellowship hall after worship. Pastor John Blossom's sermon "Stepping Up" reminded us that their service to the church went deeper and wider than we may think. Thank you, Bob and Debbie! You will be missed, and long remembered for your faithful service on our "Tree of Life."
We also celebrated Pastor John's graduation from divinity school with special gifts and recognition - including a beautiful pocket watch. Podcast of the worship service announcements, prayers, and sermon are below photos following, sermon text here and below the podcast. Have a blessed week in faith!
This Sunday, we will thank Bob and Debbie Moore for their many years of service to the church as they prepare to move to their new life in New York state, and reflect on what it means to respond to God's call to serve others as God's Church in Christ. Pastor John Blossom's sermon "Stepping Up" will offer us a roadmap towards being faithful servants of Christ. Come for joy-filled worship, stay for a special meal after worship, and rejoice in a church that is devoted to serving others in Christ!
It was a grey day, but our church fellowship hall was lighting up with the smiles of people getting fresh, homemade strawberry shortcakes, by the boxful! Some folks sat down and enjoyed them, others took them out or had them delivered, and many peeked in to look at our beautiful church sanctuary. All proceeds from the sale support our global and local mission efforts to bring Christ's healing and hope into communities in need. Thanks to EVERYONE who pitched in mightily to help make this a successful day, and thanks be to God for the privilege of serving God's world! More photos below.
