Welcome to a new Christian year, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus as the beginning of Christ being born again in us. Are you ready for a fresh look at your life? Are you ready to get a new perspective on how you can live it with God? Our four Advent Sundays will feature moving celebrations of Christ's coming, and messages that will make this a very special Christmas celebration. Our celebrations will include:
What could be better than staying in love? What could be better than staying in love with God? Pastor John Blossom's final sermon on the "Three Simple Rules" of Methodism guided us through how Methodists have a method to stay in love with God persistently and insistently. What a great faith tradition we have - and how rewarding it is to practice it as we get ready for the joys of Advent! Worship audio and slides are in the podcast below, and the text from Pastor John's sermon is here and below the podcast. Marana tha - Come, Lord Jesus, come!
What makes a Methodist? There are three simple rules that are at the core of what makes a Methodist Christian: Do no wrong, do good, stay in love with God! This Sunday, Pastor John Blossom's sermon will focus on the third General Rule of United Methodism, as described in Reuben Job's book "Three Simple Rules: A Wesleyan Way of Living." Job's book is back in stock and available in the rear of the church near the entrance. You are invited to join Pastor John afterwards in a Pastor's Circle discussion of the "three simple rules" as a means of inviting God's grace into our lives. See you Sunday!
A simple and prayerful service helped people to start their Thanksgiving Day by giving thanks for all that God gives to us abundantly! We wrote things that we are thankful for on slips of paper, and put them in a basket as our offering to God - our offering of thanks! Have a blessed Thanksgiving, and pray for those who need to feel the living presence of God with thanks!
Before you take off, before your guests arrive, before you head into the busy-ness of Thanksgiving Day, take a few minutes to join together with other people in our community at 9AM for a moment of prayer and reflection in our beautiful church. The service will be very informal, and will last for no more than 30 minutes. We hope and pray that it will be a time when you can feel thankful for your blessings, and thankful for a God who brings us the blessings of eternal love when we have a hard time understanding our blessings. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
We're a church that knows how to do good - around the world! But how much good is...good enough? Hear Pastor John's second sermon in the "Three Simple Rules" story, based on United Methodism's General Rules and the book "Three Simple Rules: A Wesleyan Way of Living" by Reuben Job, available at the church. Get ready to be inspired to...do good! See you Sunday.
How can we be Christians who are "the real deal," the ones who people hope to meet when they peek into our church, live with us at home, or meet us in the store or at work? On Sunday we heard the first of Pastor John Blossom's sermons on the "Three Simple Rules" of Methodist faith - John Wesley's general rules that are the foundation of our Methodist way of life.
Rule #1: Do no harm! So simple, so hard, and, through faith in Jesus Christ, exactly what God wants us to do. Audio, slides and text from worship on the podcast, and text from Pastor John's sermon here and below the podcast. This coming Sunday: Learn how Methodists are to do good! The book "Three Simple Rules: a Wesleyan way of Living" are available in the rear of the church. See you soon!
What amazing grafts, hospitality, and joyful celebrations of friends, families, and community! Our annual Village Christmas Bazaar was filled with warm times, great gifts, and the love of our church put in action to celebrate Christmas joy for everyone. We have an amazing God, and an amazing church that celebrates our God! Photo album below. Thanks to ALL of the very talented and dedicated people who made the bazaar a wonder-filled event!
What sets apart Methodism from other Christian traditions? John Wesley's three General Rules made it clear: we are to be real Christians, no matter what. This Sunday, Pastor John Blossom delivers the first in a series of three sermons, based on the book, "Three Simple Rules: A Wesleyan Way of Living," by Rueben Job. Job's book makes it easy to understand the simple ways of Methodism that offer us a powerful faith. Rule number one: Do no harm. Simple, but hard!
This is the first in a series of "What Makes a Methodist?" sermons by Pastor john that he will offer from time to time in the months ahead. Come to experience what life-changing faith can be about, and join the discussion afterwards in our warm fellowship time!
