Felt that special new feeling this Easter? Still looking for it? Our church offers you a great place to find a new life in the risen Jesus, in a church that really serves everyone in our community!
Pastor John Blossom's spring sermon series, "New Life in Jesus," explores how we can be authentic Christians in our homes and in God's world, with love for all people of all faiths, and of no faith. To claim the love of Jesus, we must proclaim it to God's world - in the name of Jesus, as Jesus would!
You belong. You're welcome. You're invited! This Spring, we have:
Recently, a tragic fire has made a South Meriden home uninhabitable, as a son of the home's residents died nearby. Our church is supporting the collection of donations being organized by Holly Wills on behalf of the Meriden Council of Neighborhoods this Saturday in our fellowship hall, 9AM-12PM Noon. We appreciate the further help of the South Meriden Volunteer Fire Department to help raise funds and awareness of this important need in our community.
Donations being accepted are household items such as dishes, small kitchen appliances, glasses, silverware, bath towels, blankets, pillows, sheets, and toiletry items Gift Cards and monetary donations will be gladly accepted also (checks payable to: Council of Neighborhoods). For more information on volunteering and donations, please email Holly Wills at:
email@example.com Please pray for this family recovery from their tragic losses.
You can have the same old kind of year, doing the same old things.
Or, you can find another way.
Our church offers all kinds of people ways to re-engage and revive their faith, so that our faith can change not only our lives, but God's world.
It starts every Sunday at 10AM, with our joyful worship, and warm fellowship.
It grows during the week as we walk through our community in prayer each Monday, with brown bag lunch discussions afterwards. It continues during the week as we pray together for God's possibilities.
It brings us into circles of friends at our Faith Groups every Wednesday at 5 and 7 PM, and as we bring faith to our families during the week.
It puts us in touch with people, in our community, and around God's world, who need the healing touch of God.
We have events throughout the year that make a difference in people's lives.
We hope that you will choose a fresh approach to your life, through faith, that will help you to grow in new ways, and to find real joy in life, whether life is perfect or not.
Let us know how you'd like to begin. Or, just start. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Help Them to Get a New Start! Unity House Refugee Family Project Kickoff, Tuesday, October 2nd [VIDEO]
Your commitment to peace, justice, and hope for families, here, and around the world, is a valuable community asset. Unity House, a cooperative ministry of local United Methodist Churches, is inviting both local United Methodists and an interfaith coalition of other local congregations, to together to help a new refugee family coming to Meriden, CT this fall, through the IRIS refugee resettlement agency. Our first meeting to organize local volunteers for this project will be Tuesday, October 2nd, 6PM, in the Griffin Room at the Meriden Public Library. The following video gives an overview of our goals.
For more than fifteen years, the Unity House coalition has welcomed families from around the world in need of a fresh start, in addition to local families. There are a wide range of resources and activities needing volunteer support to help this family after their arrival. Housing, basic clothing, bedding, initial food and supplies are essential, but there is much more that these families need to adapt to American life Orientation to American culture and communities, language, education, health care, transportation, finance, employment, and more are needed to encourage their success in establishing a new life. Anyone with a good heart and a basic knowledge of how our culture works can help.
Most importantly, these families need our compassionate help. They are selected by the IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Resettlement Services) agency as people who are escaping truly dangerous and dire conditions in their own nation. By acting together, our community can provide them with wide, deep, and consistent support to welcome them to our nation - a foreign nation, to them.
A signup form with frequently asked questions is here and below. You may bring this form to the organizing meeting, or send it in to our office ahead of time. Thank you for your interest in our project - and please spread the word!

This week, Unity House adult volunteers led a team of teen volunteers and outreach coordinators from Choate Rosemary Hall in a day of outdoor renovations and gardening. It was a wonderful team effort, and we are so grateful for everyone's participation and support! Unity House volunteers also continued to drop off generous donations of furniture and toys for guests and residents of Unity House. Our thanks to everyone for helping to pave the way for Unity House's long term success in mission! Photos from the day below.
Prayer is one of our most important and effective ministries. When people are in need, turning to us as a church to support them in prayer makes a big difference - and attracts people to the fellowship of Christ in our church.
We are installing a new phone system that will allow multiple people to support incoming prayers from our members and our community. When a person selects a phone menu option, the system will enable one or more people to be alerted to a prayer request. Responders do not have to speak directly to the person - they may call in to hear voicemail of the request, and pray in privacy. People who want to respond directly to the person may still have call filtering options set up.
Please contact Pastor John Blossom is you are interested in participating in this ministry or to learn more about it. No special equipment is required to participate - any normal phone will do, though, mobile phones will give participants more options. Thank you!
This coming Saturday, May 5th, the Neighborhood Associations, & Block Watches of Meriden is organizing a series of city-wide cleanup teams to get our community ready for a new season of outdoor activities. In our own part of Meriden, we have an opportunity to help clean up Habershon Park's fields, to get them ready to serve the people who live in our mission field. Please contact Pastor John at 203.293.8511, firstname.lastname@example.org, if you are interested in participating in this event. Safety orientation starts at 8.30AM that morning. Hope that you can help - or get people involved who can!
