Grace and Peace South Meriden Trinity Parishioners,

For a few months, I have been serving as pastor to SMTUMC.  COVID-19 has made my transition a bit more difficult to get to know you and for you to get familiarized with me. However, I am so glad to be amongst people who love the Lord our God and are active in exemplifying God’s great love in the community.

I was born in the Hudson Valley into a large family of nine siblings. We spent most of our early childhood in church to escape the harsh living conditions of the underserved neighborhood in which we lived.  For this reason, I have a heart for the poor and underserved amongst us and diversity weighs heavy on my conscience.  Throughout my life, I have been blessed with a willingness to do the work of the Lord as a worship leader and youth minister.  For nearly 20 years in the Methodist Church, music has always provided a bridge to God for the Local youth and the community as a whole.

My music aspirations did not go void.  In my late teens, I recorded my first song, selling over 500,000 copies.  I toured musically in my 20’s to Australia and Southeast Asia, played Basketball alongside Shaquille O’Neil and other NBA professionals.  I traveled to Africa to assist in building Lashinga’s first United Methodist Church.  While there we started an afterschool program and supplied computers and musical instruments for Mozambique’s most vulnerable.

I’ve traveled the world 10 times over well into my 30’s, singing alongside Alicia Keys and other musical giants. Writing and producing my own music all the while and winning The Voice in 2012 and proclaiming to the world that my winning success is allocated to “Nobody but Jesus”.

I, like you, have worked tirelessly to perfect my gifts and graces, and I intend to use them here at South Meriden Trinity to solely build the kingdom of God.   The Lord continues to prove to us again and again that through our gifts, hearts are touched, lives are changed and souls are set free.  We all have a heart’s song that only we can sing or experience that only we can speak from.  I implore you to sing your song loud and true. We have a work to do right here in South Meriden Trinity UMC, and I’m so excited to do it with you!!
